Job Overview

Our client operates a large luxury five-star Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria and they now require an experienced Recreation Manager to join the team. The person will oversee the overall recreation facilities of the Hotel which include a gym, a Spa, outdoor swimming pool, four tennis courts and two squash courts. The recreation facilities are currently being extensively renovated, and two courts are being added and a new exclusive membership scheme launched. This role reports directly to the General Manager and, with over 500 rooms, candidates must be used to coping with the demands of high volumes in a luxury five-star environment.

Key requirements

A minimum of 2 years prior work experience as Recreation Manager or Assistant Recreation Manager in a four or five star 200+ room Hotel/Resort in Africa

Excellent guest contact skills with a passion for customer service

A relevant degree or diploma in Physical Education or Spa/Leisure/Hospitality/Tourism management.

Used to working with and managing multicultural teams with a willingness to develop team members

Good business acumen and used to dealing with budgets and financial controls

Fluency in English and a great communicator across all mediums

Good organisational skills and the ability to think on their feet

Fluent computer skills ( MS Office)

Excellent grooming standards

Ability to work under pressure with flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations

A solid track record displaying stability pre- and post-Covid

A sound knowledge of international recreation health and safety rules/regulations/procedures
