Our client operates the leading hotel in this East African city offering over 200 luxury rooms, banqueting for up to 500 guests, an Executive Lounge and multi food and beverage outlets. They are now looking for an experienced, professional Chief Engineer to join them and oversee the engineering function of the property.

This is a challenging role in a challenging environment and the successful candidate will be a solid all rounder who has preferably held a pre-opening role in a four or five star Hotel. The role requires a well balanced, calm individual who is used to operating under pressure and who is extremely hands on and highly knowledgeable in all Engineering disciplines including civil, mechanical and electrical, plumbing and HVAC. The successful candidate needs to be a self starter who gets involved and ‘gets things done’

Key attributes / Skills

· Prior African experience is a pre-requisite for this role.

· Prior exposure in remote or hardship location would be a big advantage

· Calm and collected in personality with excellent decision making skills

· Must have held a similar position in a reputable four or five-star Hotel with at least three years background as a Chief Engineer

· Willing to go the extra mile and work long hours if required – this property operates on a six day week

· Solid all round Engineering background with excellent knowledge in generators, water plants and air-conditioning

· Must hold a relevant Engineering qualification and display stability in their last three positions

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be fluent in English

· Must be a self-starter who is confident, self-motivated and has a ‘Can Do’ attitude – the client is looking for someone who makes things happen and gets the job done

· Excellent organisational skills and used to managing a diverse multicultural team

· Must be an excellent trainer and motivator

· Ability to act with integrity and professionalism at all times

· Computer literate

Package

· Salary up to US$4,000 net per month depending on experience

· Local medical cover

· Accommodation in staff residence

· 21 days leave per year
